Here's your chance to become an Illinois State student-athlete, as the Redbird baseball, cross country, men's and women's golf, gymnastics, women's soccer, softball and track and field teams hold open tryouts during the first few weeks of classes.
Students interested in trying out for the men's golf team must attend the meeting on Wednesday, August 24 at 5 p.m. at the University Golf Course pavilion. Tryouts will then be held the weekend of August 27-28 at University Golf Course. Eighteen holes will be played each day. The time is yet to be determined. Students interested in trying out for the women's golf team should contact head golf coach Ray Kralis at 309/438-3635.
Tryouts for the women's soccer team will be held on Wednesday, August 24 at 5:15 p.m. at Adelaide Street Field. Potential cross country student-athletes should meet at the outdoor track on Thursday, August 25 at 5 p.m. Softball tryouts will be held on August 25 at 3:15 p.m. at Redbird Softball Complex. Gymnastics tryouts will be held on Tuesday, August
30 and Thursday, September 1 at 3 p.m. in the South Gym in Horton Field House. Baseball tryouts will be held on Friday, September 2 at 3 p.m. at Redbird Field. Track and field tryouts are Thursday, September 8 at 4 p.m. at the outdoor track.
Students wishing to participate must visit the Redbird Athletics office at 211 Horton Field House to complete the appropriate documentation prior to tryouts. An NCAA Health History Form must be completed and each student must have a current physical. Students must bring both forms to the tryout.
Physicals must be dated June 1, 2004 or more recent. For freshmen, physicals from their senior year of high school are permissible. If you are lacking a current physical, you must pick up the appropriate form in the athletics office and take it with you for your physical.
