The Illinois State baseball coaches continue to offer aspiring college baseball players opportunities to improve their skills, as they have announced the date for the 2006 Winter Pitching Clinic. Head coach Jim Brownlee and staff will evaluate high school age pitchers in a one-day-only clinic set for January 29, 2006 at Horton Field House on the Illinois State campus.
The clinic is designed to evaluate high-school age pitchers who want feedback and advice on what it takes to be successful at both the high school and collegiate levels. Each participant will be videotaped at the clinic, allowing for the coaching staff to evaluate each player's development levels. Participants will also be clocked with radar to gauge their velocity.
Illinois State pitching coach Seth Kenny believes the ISU clinic offers participants unique experiences different to most other clinics.
"The participants have the opportunity to get some one-on-one evaluations with our staff that is not available at most clinics," said Kenny. "They will go away knowing where they stand in their development as a pitcher by way of the videotape analysis and velocity numbers and will have recommendations on how to get better in the future."
The clinic runs from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and registration fees are $60. The registration deadline is set for January 25, but the camp is limited to just 60 participants and spots will fill up quickly.
