Sept. 18, 2005

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Illinois State men's tennis team won three titles today at the Ball State Invitational. Senior Djordje Uskokovic, Juniors Yohann Nograbat, Tim Link and Sophomore Oscar Beich all took a title home on Sunday.

After three days in Muncie, Djordje Uskokovic won the singles B Flight (6-1, 6-4) and partnered with Yohann Nograbat to win the doubles B Flight 8-6. At the invitational in 2002, Uskokovic won the singles B Flight title and this season he walked away with two, giving him three titles in four years. Head Coach Greg Kennett was more than satisfied with Uskokovic's efforts over the weekend.

"Djordje did a great job today in singles, it was some of the best singles he has played in awhile," said Kennett. "I am very proud of his mental and physical efforts, he played nine matches in three days which is not easy to do."

Bloomington High School graduates, Tim Link and Oscar Beich also took a title home on Sunday. The two paired up to win the doubles C flight 8-4. This is their first doubles title of the season. Coach Kennett was excited to see Beich and Link make the adjustments they worked on in practice.

"Oscar and Tim have been playing together for almost their whole lives," said Kennett. "We worked on a few things with them in practice, they were able to adapt, and as a result they played well and won."

The Redbirds have compiled seven titles in the last four years at the Ball State Invitational. Coach Kennett was proud of his team's achievements over the weekend.

"We won all three matches," said Kennett. "It was a very good day, we had good spirits in the morning and we played hard, it was a very good day.

The men's tennis team concluded their three day road trip today. They will continue to practice and prepare for next weeks tournament.
