Sept. 20, 2005
NORMAL, Ill. -
Rather than accepting her Illinois State Athletics Hall of Fame plaque on Friday night, Jodi Burch-Jansevanrensburg, the Redbirds' first softball all-American, will be evacuating her Freeport, Texas home due to the threat of Hurricane Rita. As a result, the Illinois State Athletics Department has opted to hold Burch-Jansevanrensburg's induction until 2006.
Dr. Linda Herman and Kevin Bracken will still be inducted as originally planned into the Illinois State Athletics Hall of Fame Friday night at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington, Ill. The banquet begins at 6 p.m., following an hour-long reception.
Along with the 2005 Hall of Fame Class, long-time statistician Dan Winberry will also be honored as the recipient of the Campbell "Stretch" Miller Award.
Tickets for the Hall of Fame ceremony are $25 per person and can be purchased through The Redbird Club office. To order tickets for the event or for more information, please call Annie Campbell at 309/438-3803.
