NORMAL, Ill. -
The Illinois State women's golf team is set to compete in their last event of the fall season at the MVC Preview hosted by Bradley, Oct. 30-31, at WeaverRidge in Peoria, Ill.
Head coach Ray Kralis is excited to have the chance to compete against Missouri Valley Conference teams.
"We will have the chance to mix it up with all the Valley teams but Evansville," Kralis said. "It is also exciting because there are a lot of Valley teams that are having success this year."
The Redbirds' line-up will consist of seniors Hilary Anderson and Olivia Campos, junior Marci Hill, sophomore Tiffany Hockensmith and freshmen Britt Knutson and Stacey Miller. Freshman Christine Larson will be competing individually.
Kralis is eager to play in the competitive field.
"First and foremost we want to get a feel for the golf course," Kralis said. "Secondly, we want to finish off what has been a very good fall for the team."
The nine-team field will play at the par-72, 6,012 yard course at WeaverRidge Golf Club. Illinois State will be joining eight other Valley teams including Bradley, Creighton, Drake, Indiana State, Missouri State, Southern Illinois, Northern Iowa and Wichita State.
Kralis feels this last event will help them prepare for the spring season.
"Obviously we are excited about having the opportunity to see the golf course," Kralis said. "That is why the tournament was added to the schedule. This experience will be invaluable for the spring."
The tournament will begin Monday, Oct. 30 with a shotgun start at 10 a.m., with teams competing on the first 18 holes. The final round will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 9 a.m.
