Missouri State advanced to its eighth-straight MVC Tournament semifinal with a 3-0 sweep over Evansville in the second match of the 2006 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Game scores in favor of MSU were 30-11, 30-24, 30-25.
Missouri State (25-7, 14-4 MVC) jumped out early in game one, racing to an 8-0 lead and never looking back on its way to a 30-11 win in game one while holding Evansville to a -.114 hitting percentage.
Sara Thomas recorded five kills in seven swings and Katelyn Panzau chalked up 15 assist for the Bears while Jamie Adams added five kills.
Shanda Harper put down four kills in five swings in the opening game.
Evansville (12-18, 6-12 MVC) was resilient, battling throughout games two and three before the Bears could seal the victory.
MVC Libero of the Year Julie Walroth paced the Aces with 21 digs.
Missouri State's attack was led by Jamie Adams' 14 kills. Sara Adams recorded a double-double for MSU, posting 10 kills and 20 digs. Setter Katelyn Panzau tallied 38 assists and 10 digs.
The Bears advance to take on second-seeded Wichita State in Friday's second semifinal match beginning at 7:30 p.m.
