Rembert, Siskowic Earn AP All-America Honors

Dec. 13, 2006

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State's Cameron Siskowic and Pierre Rembert each were named to the 2006 Associated Press Division I-AA All-America Team on Wednesday, with Siskowic garnering first team honors and Rembert being named to the second team.

It marked the fifth-straight year in which a Redbird was tabbed for the AP All-America team and the fourth straight season with a first team selection.

The honor is the second first team all-America accolade for Siskowic, a finalist for the 2006 Buck Buchanan Award. He was named to the Walter Camp All-America team last week. The 2006 Gateway Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year led the league in tackles for a second straight season. The San Diego, Calif., native finished with 154 tackles, including 75 solo stops. He also finished his final Redbird season with five tackles for loss, two quarterback sacks and two interceptions, while forcing three fumbles.

Rembert set the Illinois State standard for rushing yards in a season with 1,743 yards on the ground. He also added 17 touchdowns on the season, including 16 off rush attempts. Rembert added another school record with 355 carries on the season, while averaging 4.9 yards per attempt and 134.1 yards per game.

The Gateway Conference was well-represented at the running back position on the AP All-America team with Southern Illinois' Arkee Whitlock and Youngstown State's Marcus Mason earning first team honors and Rembert being placed on the second team.

Other league players included first-team selection Dré Dokes from Northern Iowa; second-teamers Ryan Jewell and Jason Perry of Youngstown State and Chad Rinehart from Northern Iowa; and third-team selection Codera Jackson from Youngstown State.
