The Illinois State men's tennis team (3-6) was defeated by No. 70 Western Michigan (10-1) in a 7-0 match hosted in Kalamazoo. The Broncos extended their home win streak to nine on Sunday afternoon.
Western Michigan wasted no time in singles play and won every singles match in straight sets. Oscar Beich's three game win streak was put to an end in a 6-1, 6-3 battle at the No. 5 singles position.
ISU failed to capture a singles and doubles win throughout the match.
Doubles action was also unsuccessful for the `Birds. The Broncos earned the doubles match point and also managed to take all three doubles matches. Yohann Nograbat and Alban Renard competed at the No. 1 doubles position and fell short, 8-6. Nuno Jacinto and Luka Marinkovic dropped the No. 2 doubles match 8-5, while Djordje Uskokovic and Beich also came up short at the No. 3 doubles slot, 8-5.
Illinois State looks to bounce back next weekend on Saturday, February 25 in DeKalb against Northern Illinois at noon.
