The Illinois State softball team was rained for the second straight day at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga. Steady rains throughout the day on Saturday saturated the fields at South Commons Stadium forcing the cancellation of the final day of play.
ISU finished the tournament leading its pool with a 2-0 record. The 'Birds downed UMass, 5-2 and then upset No. 24 Louisville, 3-2 on the only day of play in the tournament.
Next week the Redbirds travel to Plant City, Fla., where they will take on four different teams before starting play in the Midwest.
