NORMAL, Ill. -
Matt Miller and Kris Wildenradt were named Co-Missouri Valley Conference Golfers of the Week for their efforts at the 2nd annual Lexus Naples Intercollegiate hosted by PGA Tour professional Peter Jacobsen. Wildenradt (70, 74, 69) and Miller (73, 66, 74) finished the tournament tied for 10th place with a three-round total of three-under-par 213 at the Hammock Bay Golf and Country Club in Naples, Fla.
The Redbird duo's play led the `Birds to a fourth-place finish at the tournament as the team shot a three-round total of 870 (294, 284, 292) and finished ahead of notable Midwestern schools Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Ohio State. Head coach Ray Kralis feels Miller and Wildenradt's scores fueled the Redbirds' performance in Florida.
"They obviously stepped their games up in a big way," said Kralis. "Playing in a great field, Miller and Wildenradt have taken their games to higher levels and reinforced that they can play with the best in the country. This is a great momentum and confidence builder, their scores fueled our team scores."
Miller, Wildenradt and the Redbirds travel to the island of Kauai, Hawai'i, on March 13th-20th to play in 7th annual Kauai Collegiate Cup hosted by Western Kentucky at the Makai Golf Course.
