Richdale Named Valley Player of the Week

March 8, 2006

NORMAL, Ill. - For the fourth time this season and 16th time in her career, Illinois State women's golf senior Samantha Richdale was named Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week. Richdale took first place out of 72 competitors at the 31st annual Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational in Winter Springs, Fla. That win marks her second first-place finish for the season, alongside her victory at The Lady Northern, September 24-25, 2005.

Head coach Ray Kralis feels that Richdale is having an incredible senior season.

"Richdale continues to have a phenomenal season," said Kralis. "You almost come to expect it because she wins Golfer of the Week every other time she plays. It's amazing, she's had a great career from the start and it's neat to see her success continue."

Richdale broke even at the par 72 Tuscawilla Country Club Course for rounds one and two, after firing in a one-under-par 71 for her first round and a one-over-par 73 for round two. Carding a three-round total of 221(71,73,77), Richdale took first place by two strokes from host Rollins College Marie-Pierre Bernier. The Kelowna, B.C., native's first-place finish contributed to a Redbird fourth place finish with 954 (315,322,317).

Richdale and the Redbirds continue to compete with another 54-hole tournament March 13-15 at the University of Nevada Las Vegas Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev.
