2006 ISU Athletics Hall of Fame Class Announced

NORMAL, Ill. - The 2006 Illinois State Athletics Hall of Fame Class was officially announced on Tuesday. The class spans 15 years of athletic achievement and consists of Caryn Brune-Goss (Rochelle, Ill/Rochelle Township HS), the single-game scoring leader in ISU women's basketball history; Jodi Burch-Jansevanrensburg (Freeport, Texas/Brazosport HS), the Redbirds' first softball all-American and one of ISU's most dominant pitchers of all-time; James Duncan (Vernon Hills, Ill./Libertyville HS), a three-time track and field all-American and national runner-up in the indoor 200-meter-dash; and Rickie Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind./Washington HS), the energizing leader of ISU's men's basketball team that earned three straight NCAA Tournament appearances in the early 1980s.

Along with the 2006 Hall of Fame Class, long-time faculty member and current volunteer at the Karin Bone Athletics Study Center, Dr. Jim Johnson will also be honored with the Campbell "Stretch" Miller Award. This group will officially be inducted during the Hall of Fame banquet at 7 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 15, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Bloomington, Ill., with a reception beginning at 6 p.m. The five honorees will also be recognized during halftime of the Illinois State-Eastern Illinois football game on Saturday, Sept. 16.
