NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State junior Katri Miller was one of six Missouri Valley Conference players chosen for the 2006 women's tennis Singles All-Select Team Thursday. Miller has played at No. 1 singles for the Redbirds and has accumulated a 9-8 overall record and 5-4 in the league. She stands at sixth in the conference standings for No. 1 singles.
Last season, the Tallinn, Estonia, native suffered a knee injury which took her out of the conference competition. However, this year Miller was able to contribute to her team in its first-place regular season conference title and head coach Chris Hoover is happy with Miller's come-back and achievement.
"I am happy for Katri because she deserves to be there," said Hoover.
All-Select team individuals were chosen regardless of flight division, and based on their performances and records throughout the season by all MVC head women's tennis coaches.
