PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -
During his first two seasons Illinois State linebacker Cameron Siskowic played in the shadows of Boomer Grigsby, but last season the San Diego, Calif., native really started to come into his own as the Gateway Football Conference's leading tackler and a finalist for the 2005 Buck Buchanan Award. His numbers as a junior paid off, as Siskowic was rated as the No. 6 linebacker in I-AA football by The Sports Network's Executive Director of I-AA Football, Matt Dougherty.
Siskowic is the only Gateway linebacker ranked in the top 20, but he was rated behind Elon's Chad Nkang, Hampton's Justin Durant, Eastern Illinois' Clint Sellers, Mississippi Valley State's Tyler Knight and Cal Poly's Kyle Shotwell, all of which are also seniors.
In 2005, Siskowic started all 11 games for the Redbirds at the strong side linebacker position. He finished with 132 total tackles, including 55 solo stops, while averaging 12 tackles per game. He was second on the team with 14 tackles for loss and set a career high against Youngstown State and Indiana State with 17 tackles in each game. Siskowic finished the season with eight double-digit tackle games.
