Bird Blitz with Sara Stevenson

July 13, 2006

- GoRedbirds: Okay, Sara, here we go. You ready?
Sara Stevenson: Let's do this!

GR: Chocolate or Vanilla?
SS: Definitely chocolate

GR: The white squirrels of Olney or the brown squirrels of the ISU quad?
SS: The white squirrels of Olney, of course.

GR: Who would win in a race, you or your sister Lyndsey, who ran track at SEMO?
SS: Ummm...well, I don't want to make her feel bad if this is going to be on the website and all. Lyndsey would beat me in her glory days but if were to race right now I would beat her.

GR: Lesson learned as a child that has stuck with you?
SS: Hard work pays off.

GR: McDonalds or Subway?
SS: McDonalds. Number 1 meal, Big Mac.

GR: What artists are in regular rotation in your I-Pod?
SS: The Fray, any kind of rap, and Neo.

GR: No-Look or Behind-the-Back pass?
SS: No-Look.

GR: Would you describe yourself as a natural athlete or a gym rat?
SS: A little bit of both, I'm always in the gym but I've also been blessed with ability.

GR: DWade or Lebron?
SS: Lebron. I'm really impressed with him being so young and the way he has handled everything after he entered the league at such a young age.

GR: Biggest accomplishment as a Redbird?
SS: I don't know that I can name one yet, but I know it'll happen with my team this season.

GR: If you were forming a women's bball dream team, who would be on it?
SS: I know this is going to sound cheesy, but my teammates. They are all amazing people and we are working so hard this summer to succeed this year. It's just really exciting.

GR: Redbird Role Model?
SS: Megan McCracken. I'm impressed with her work ethic. She has a great ability to be in the gym every day and also be a leader on the floor.

GR: What is the best lesson you have learned from Coach P?
SS: Never settle for average. She tells us that 90% of the world is average and we need to work to be in that other 10%.

GR: If you were to ever date any one player on the ISU men's bball team, who would it be?
SS: Oh no, let me think about this. I guess since you're making me pick, I'd say Greg Dilligard because he's so nice and just a good guy.

GR: Who is the best player you've ever faced?
SS: Melanie Boeglin (former guard at Indiana State)

GR: Offense or Defense?
SS: Defense...its all about hard work and heart.

GR: What is your earliest basketball memory?
SS: Going to my dad's practices, he was a coach at St. Joe (a junior high in my hometown).
