Women's Basketball Invites Youth to Join Redbird Kid's Club

If your son or daughter loves basketball and has always wanted a chance to get closer to their Redbird hoops heroes, than the Illinois State women's basketball team has a program for this upcoming season that is a slam dunk.

The `Birds basketball office is now accepting membership applications for the 2006-07 Redbird Kid's Club that will give youngsters of the community a unique opportunity to be surrounded by great role models on and off the court, make new friends and learn ways to become a better basketball player and students of the game.

When the women's basketball team says they'll bring their fans closer to the action, they truly mean it. As a Redbird Kid's Club member, children will receive season tickets in a reserved section to all women's basketball games where members can be as loud and crazy as possible. Members will also have the opportunity to line up on the court with the team during introductions of the game's starters prior to tip off.

Throughout the season, participants in the Redbird Kid's Club will have several chances to get up close and personal with the team. Club members will be able to participate in theme days for each home game, have an exclusive pizza party with the squad and take part in an autograph session with the players and coaches. Each member will also have one-on-one contact with a specific player of this season's team who will become a pen pal.

Along with pen pal letters, participants will also receive newsletters with updates on the team and their favorite players.

To join the Redbird Kid's Club and be a part of the Illinois State women's basketball family, parents must complete the following application and mail $25 to Taren Martin, Women's Basketball Office, Illinois State University, Campus Box 2660, Normal, IL 61790. Applications must be sent no later than Oct. 13, 2006. When a member signs up, they will receive season tickets, along with a Redbird Kid's Club t-shirt and the 2006-07 team poster and schedule. At the time he or she joins the club, they will also find out who their pen pal will be as well as the theme for the first exhibition game on Nov. 4.
