NORMAL, Ill. -
Patrons attending Illinois State athletic events in Redbird Arena or community members driving along Main Street near Hancock Stadium will notice some changes taking place over the next few weeks with the addition of video boards at both locations.
In Redbird Arena, the installation process has begun as the center-hung scoreboard and the side message centers will all be upgraded to full color LED (light emitting diode) with video capabilities. The existing marquee on Main Street will start being dismantled on Thursday, while a new full color LED video marquee will be built on the same spot.
"This has been a time-consuming project and I would like to thank Larry Lyons and the facilities staff for all of their work on the project," Director of Athletics Dr. Sheahon Zenger said. "The timing isn't ideal to tackle a major project like this, but we are excited about the enhancements for our fans. We also feel like we owe a commitment to our sponsors, COUNTRY Insurance and Financial Services, CEFCU, Carle Clinic and Health Alliance, for their help in making this happen."
The timeline for both projects is to be completed by February 3, which is the men's basketball game against Bradley.
