NORMAL, Ill. -
The Illinois State men's tennis team achieved a 3.19 GPA for the Fall 2006 semester to earn the highest men's athletic team GPA for the third semester in a row.
Eight of the nine men's tennis players are on the AFNI honor role, which honors student-athletes with a GPA of a 3.0 and higher.
Contributing to the team average was Luka Marinkovic who achieved a 4.0 this semester. Seniors, Alfredo Lagarda and Yohann Nograbat earned a 3.59 and 3.5, respectively, to help the `Birds achieve a 3.19 average.
Head Coach Greg Kennett is very impressed by his team.
"I am just proud of the effort they have put into the classroom and I am even more proud of their willingness and enjoyment to learn," said Kennett. "A lot of the guys really enjoy going to school and they understand the opportunity they have by being able to go to school and being here since most of them are from all over the world."
