Miller Tied for Sixth at John Dallio Invitational

Oct. 1, 2007

Lemont, Ill. - Sophomore All-Missouri Valley Conference performer Drew Miller, competing individually for the Illinois State Men's Golf team at the John Dallio Memorial, is just four shots behind the leader after a finishing day one with a two-round-total of 146 (72, 74).

Illinois State is currently in 11th place in the 13-team event after a day one team total of 615 (311, 304). MVC rival Northern Iowa leads the tournament after a team total of 581 (297, 284) following day one action. The Panthers were led by senior Jordan Weber who fired a two-round-total of 142 (72, 70).

"Drew played very well today," said head coach Ray Kralis. "It is great to see a guy do well individually but if we want to do the things we are capable of as a team, we are going to need four or five guys posting low numbers."

Although the Redbirds have struggled out of the gates in each of their first two tournaments, coach Kralis feels like the team is ready to make major strides forward.

"I really feel like we are better than some of the scores we have put up so far," said Kralis. "For whatever reason I think our guys are pressing some, but tomorrow is a new day and we know what we are capable of."

The Dallio Memorial concludes with the final 18 holes being played Tuesday, Oct. 2. Tee times are set for a 7:20 a.m. shotgun start.
