NORMAL, Ill. - Former Illinois State football players Boomer Grigsby and Brent Hawkins each tasted victory in NFL action Sunday, as Grigsby's Kansas City Chiefs topped visiting Cincinnati, 27-20, while Hawkins' Jacksonville Jaguars downed traveling Houston, 37-17.
Both Grigsby and Hawkins were on the respective active rosters and saw action. Grigsby did not record a stat, while Hawkins had a lost fumble on a muffed punt in the third quarter.
In addition to a pair of former Redbirds playing in the NFL, former ISU quarterback Kevin Glenn was also in action with Winnipeg of the Canadian Football League. The Blue Bombers suffered their second-straight loss for the first time this season, after falling 38-25, at Calgary.
Glenn passed for 349 yards and two touchdowns in the loss, while completing 19-of-33 pass attempts. He did have a pair of interceptions and a lost fumble. The Blue Bombers now have just a one-point lead in the East Division.
Aveion Cason and the Detroit Lions had a bye this weekend.
The Redbirds will wrap up the pro-circuit this week, as Laurent Robinson will make his Monday Night Football debut. Robinson and the Atlanta Falcons host the New York Giants at the Georgia Dome. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. CDT.
