NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State junior football player Jonathan St-Pierre will be highlighted in this month's edition of "NCAA on Campus," which will air on ESPN Classic Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 11:30 a.m., and ESPN U Thursday, Oct. 18 at 5:30 p.m.
St-Pierre is on pace to graduate from Illinois State in 2009 with two bachelor's degrees in economics and business administration, as well as completing a master's degree in economics. The Longueuil, Quebec, Canada, native has already received his bachelor's degree in economics at ISU and will complete two courses at Miami (Fla.), where he began his college career, next summer to complete his bachelor's degree in business administration, before returning to ISU to finish his master's curriculum.
"My whole family will be watching in Canada," said St-Pierre. "My parents can only come watch me play at my senior day next season, so they are very excited to watch me on TV. My mom has already pre-ordered plenty of copies of the show."
Hosting the segment is ISU senior gymnast Amanda Candler. She was an easy choice as the host for the piece due to her broadcast journalism major and experience as a reporter for TV-10, Illinois State's student-operated campus television station.
"I've never done anything like that before," Candler said. "I work as a reporter for TV 10, but this was very different. It was a great experience and I feel lucky to have been chosen to be a part of it."
St-Pierre enjoyed the experience as well.
"This was a fun experience because it involved two athletes," St-Pierre said about Candler interviewing him. "It was like having someone from your family interview you."
"NCAA on Campus" features academic and athletic achievements and human interest stories of Division I, II and III student-athletes, as well as a forum to explain collegiate topics and issues in more detail.
