Inclement Weather Forces End to Redbird Baseball World Series

Oct. 17, 2007

NORMAL, Ill. - With game seven heading into the bottom of the second inning, the weather took a turn for the worse Wednesday afternoon, as rain, combined with strong winds, forced the Illinois State baseball coaches to end game seven of the Redbird Baseball World Series with the red team leading, 1-0.

The red team scored in the top of the second, as Kevin Konsler led off with a walk. First baseman Mark Evans singled to right field as Konsler was heading to second base, and the throw by right fielder Tyler McNeely sailed over third base, allowing Konsler to score easily. However, Evans tried to advance to third on the play, and was tagged out by third baseman Gabe DeMarco.

Though the final game of the series was cancelled, the red team finished on top in the series by winning the first six meetings.
