Redbirds To Host MVC Rival Evansville

Oct. 25, 2007

Normal, Ill. - Parents weekend will bring several of the Illinois State swimmers and divers friends and families to Horton pool to cheer on the Redbirds as they host conference foe Evansville, Friday Oct. 26, beginning at 6 p.m.

Head coach Steve Paska is anticipating the challenge of hosting a conference foe.

"I am excited to have a conference opponent on the schedule this season," said Paska. "I hope we can keep them on the schedule for years to come. It will be great to have number of the families of our student-athletes to come to the meet Friday. They will also be able to participate in a team cookout and go to the home football game on Saturday."

Paska is thrilled about having three home meets scheduled in the next three weekends.

"It will be great to compete in the next three of the four meets at home," Paska said. "In the past, the team has performed with consistency and intensity at Horton pool. They are ready to compete in front of their friends and families on Friday night."

Head diving coach Phil Hoffmann is also looking forward to the meet.

"I'm looking forward for some of the underclassmen divers using some of the new dives we have been working on in practice," said Hoffmann. "We will also have an early look at some of the MVC divers before conference. This will be a good way to judge how we will compete."
