Sophomore Stacey Miller led the way for the Redbirds on day one of the Ross Resorts Invitational at Mid Pines Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. Miller fired a day-one-total of 155 (78, 77) while finishing the first two rounds tied for ninth place.
Illinois State is tied for 11th place following a day-one-team-total of 646 (329, 317). Two other Redbirds finished day one in the top-50 as junior Tiffany Hockensmith is tied for 45th after a day-one-total of 163 (83, 80) and sophomore Laura Harris is tied for 47th after posting a day-one-total of 164 (84, 80).
Tournament host Rollins College leads the 15-team event after recording a team score of 613 (308, 305). The Tars placed seven players in the top-10 after day one action and were led by Joanna Coe's 151 (75, 76).
The final 18 holes are scheduled for a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
