NORMAL, Ill. -
Head coach Darby Sligh and the Illinois State women's golf team will welcome Hannah Bachman of Springfield High School for the 2008-09 season, as she has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Redbirds. Bachman is the only signee for ISU this year as the team currently yields no seniors and just two juniors.
"I am very excited to have Hannah join the Redbird family," said Sligh. "Her demeanor, both on-and-off the course, coupled with her experience, will add depth to our squad."
The Springfield, Ill. native has an impressive high school golf resume and competed in the 2007 class AA Illinois High School Association State Finals as an individual, finishing tied for 23rd. She also placed second at the Quincy Regional and earned medalist honors at the Champaign (Central) Sectional.
Bachman also placed in the top-five at the Regional Optimist Tournament, helping her qualify for the 2007 International Optimist Tournament in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Sligh feels that Bachman has the necessary tools to become a key ingredient for successful Redbird teams during her time at Illinois State.
"Hannah has all the necessary drive and work ethic I am looking for to lead this team in the coming years," said Sligh. "I am eager to work with her and watch her shine."
Bachman will begin classes at Illinois State next fall and plans on majoring in business.
