ISU Athletics to Hold WJBC Brotherhood Tree Night Saturday

Nov. 29, 2007

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State Athletics Department, in conjunction with WJBC, AM-1230, Bloomington, will hold the WJBC Brotherhood Tree Night at Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena Saturday, as the Redbird men's basketball team takes on Illinois-Chicago at 7:05 p.m. Redbird Athletics staff members will be accepting gift donations for needy families in McLean County before, during and after the game.

Gifts for the WJBC Brotherhood Tree should be wrapped and tagged with the age and gender of the intended recipient and what's inside the box. One free upper-bowl ticket to ISU's Jan. 8 home game against Northern Iowa will be given to each person who donates a gift to the WJBC Brotherhood Tree.

Brad Ledford, Illinois State assistant athletics director for marketing and promotions, is looking forward to providing Redbird Athletics fans an opportunity to give back to the community in such a meaningful way.

"This is something that we have participated in with WJBC for a number of years, and it is a very meaningful event," Ledford said. "For this event, we work with a great partner of ours, Radio Bloomington and WJBC, AM-1230, and help provide needy families in the Bloomington-Normal area with holiday cheer through gift donations."

The WJBC Brotherhood Tree has provided gifts for needy families in McLean County since 1969, with gifts delivered to over 6,100 people in 2006.
