Men's Golf Set for Final Event of the Fall Season

Nov. 3, 2007

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's golf team is back in action this week as the Redbirds head to Hattiesburg, Miss. Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 5-6 for the Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate hosted by Southern Mississippi at the Canebrake Country Club.

The Redbirds have not competed since a third-place finish at the Weibring Intercollegiate (Oct. 7-8), as they were rained out at the Austin Peay State University Intercollegiate two weeks ago (Oct. 22-23).

"I think our guys are antsy to play because of how well we played at our home event and not being able to compete down in Kentucky," said head coach Ray Kralis.

Competing for the Redbirds are junior Ben Murphy; sophomores Joe Emerich, Tommy Bliefnick; and Drew Miller; and freshman Will Cullen.

"We are taking the same group of guys to this event that we took to the APSU event and we hope that we can finish the fall season strong," said Kralis. "Our guys are really looking for consistent scores from our entire lineup this week. I think our guys know what we are capable of and where we need to be and hopefully we can take the necessary steps to get on the right track to end our fall schedule."

Tee times for the event are scheduled for a shotgun start Monday and Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m.
