Eldridge caught fire in the beginning minutes of the second half, igniting the Redbirds' offense by scoring eight points on a 14-4 run. Freshman Bobby Hill capped off the stretch by hitting a jumper from just inside the three point line to tie the game at 39-39, with 12:52 remaining in regulation. After Dyer hit another three from the top of the key, the `Birds took a 45-44 advantage at 8:59 and forcing a Creighton timeout. The Redbirds continued to pull ahead, putting together a 15-5 spurt to give them the 57-49 lead after Johnson rolled off a screen and hit a three-pointer at the 2:40 mark.
After Funk shot a three-pointer that hit the front of the iron and bounced in at 1:56, the `Birds put the game out of reach by outscoring the Bluejays, 8-3, in the final 1:44 in regulation.
