NORMAL, Ill. -
The Illinois State gymnastics team will make their way to Cape Girardeau, Mo., Tuesday, March 13 to compete against the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State. The dual meet will be held at 7 p.m. at Houck Field House.
Head coach Bob Conkling is looking for the gymnasts to attack the competition on their respective events.
"I want the girls to be a little more sure-footed during this meet," Conkling said. "They need to know they are going to hit their routines and not worry about their landings. They all still need to be consistent in the next couple meets and make sure no one else steps ahead of them."
The Redbirds are coming off a third-place finish in a quadrangular meet held on Saturday at Eastern Michigan. Whitney Albright, Meaghan Koshman and Jessica Prousa will lead the way as all-arounders during the mid-week match before traveling to the State of Illinois Meet, held in DeKalb, Ill., on March 25. There, ISU will face Midwest Independent Conference and in-state rival Illinois-Chicago, Illinois and Northern Illinois.
In their last meet on Saturday, March 10, Southeast Missouri State posted a season-high overall score of 194.275. The `Birds will need to up Saturday's score of 190.700 and a season-high of 192.425 to catch the Redhawks from advancing further into regional qualifications.
