NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State's volleyball team will continue its spring season by playing in its third tournament in as many weeks at Saturday's Three Wise Men Tournament, hosted by Loyola. The 16-team tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Joseph J. Gentile Center. Bracket play will follow pool competition in the afternoon.
Illinois State will compete in Pool #2 against Western Illinois, UIC and Southern Indiana. The Redbirds will play two games to 25 points against each squad with unlimited substitutions. The bracket play session format is one game to 30 points.
The Redbirds are coming off last Saturday's 8-0 showing against the field of the 2007 Kelly Meisner Tournament at Redbird Arena. ISU recorded two-game sweeps over Illinois Central College (ICC), Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Wisconsin-Green Bay and UIC. Dating back to March 31, Illinois State has won 16 of its 18 single-games in the spring season.
The other participants in the three pools are as follows: Pool #1: Missouri, Central Michigan, Valparaiso and the University of Chicago; Pool #3: Northern Illinois, Loyola, Lewis, Olivet Nazarene; Pool #4: UW-Green Bay, Bradley, SIU-Edwardsville and Michigan Tech.
