Wow! I am SO HAPPY to say that we are finally in Europe! After a long afternoon (and night) of traveling, we arrived in Prague at 11am, or around 3am Central Standard time. This was hard because we were all ready to get some sleep, but the day was only just beginning! We were pushed to stay awake and moving for the rest of the day, and it was not too hard because there is so much to see here in Prague! After settling into our hotel rooms and having lunch, we embarked on a trip into downtown Prague. I have only heard of how amazing everything is in Prague, but what we saw today can be barely put into words!
First of all, the weather today was great-sunny and about 75 degrees. The cobblestone streets led to one of our sightseeing destinations, the Prague Castle. The castle is actually a very old cathedral, with soaring vaulted ceilings and many stained glass windows, but the main attraction was the climb to the top of the steeple to get a view of the city. After climbing about 285 steps up the winding staircase, we made it (out of breath and somewhat dizzy!) to the top.
The view was absolutely beautiful and definitely something we were grateful to be able to experience! We also visited other popular sites today, such as the Charles Bridge and the town squares, and definitely got to experience some of what Prague had to offer! Well, after going without sleep for over 24 hours now, I think it is time to get a good night's rest! More to come tomorrow! Thanks for all your support of our trip and Redbird volleyball!
