Anderson Named to Valley Men's Golf All-Time Team

May 3, 2007

ST. LOUIS - Former Illinois State men's golf standout Brian Anderson was named to the Missouri Valley Conference's All-Centennial Team, as announced by the league office Thursday. As the Valley celebrates its century of excellence, the nation's second-oldest NCAA Division I conference is naming all-centennial teams for all of its sponsored sports.

Anderson was the only former Redbird recognized on the team, as the Rochester, Ill., native was a four-time selection to the league's all-conference team (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004). He is the only ISU men's golfer to earn all-conference nods in each of his four seasons. Anderson also captured medalist honors at the 2004 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship, winning the tournament by one stroke.

Anderson was also an integral part of the Redbirds' 2002 Missouri Valley Conference Championship.

Finishing his career with two individual titles, Anderson also finished first at the Branson Creek Invitational in 2003. He ended his career with four Valley Golfer of the Week honors, which is tied for third-most in team history.

Team composition for each MVC sport has been determined through an on-line fan vote (www.mvc100.org) as well as a centennial committee. Nearly 1,000 votes were cast for men's and women's golf. Fans also designated an all-time coach as part of the on-line voting process.
