Jankovich to Throw Out First Pitch at Cubs Game August 1

June 19, 2007

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State head men's basketball coach Tim Jankovich will throw out the first pitch prior to the Chicago Cubs' game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Wrigley Field on Wednesday, August 1. Pre-game festivities begin at approximately 5 p.m., where an alumni-sponsored party will be held at the Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville. WJBC will be broadcasting live from the event.

Cost for the alumni event is $40, which includes a terrace reserved infield seat ticket to the game and entrance into the pre-game party. The gathering will include appetizers, soft drinks and door prizes, and Jankovich will be a special guest. Tickets will be available for pick up at the Cubby Bear (1059 W Addison St., Chicago, Ill.) between 5-7 p.m. on the day of the game. Those tickets not claimed during that time slot can be picked up at the Wrigley Field will call window.

Jankovich is excited about the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at such a historic ballpark.

"It's a big thrill to be given this opportunity," said Jankovich. "I'm very excited about throwing out the first pitch at Wrigley Field, but my only concern is that if the Cubs were to offer me a 10-day contract after seeing me pitch, it could create a bit of a dilemma!" The deadline to RSVP for the event is July 24. Registration is available via phone at (800) 366-4478, or by registering online:
