Mt. Carmel's WSJD Added to Redbird Radio Network

June 20, 2007

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State senior quarterback Luke Drone made his first score of the season on Tuesday, and he didn't even realize it. Drone's hometown station, WSJD 100.5 FM in Mt. Carmel, Ill., officially joined the Redbird Radio Network and will carry all the Redbird football games in 2007.

"We are really excited about Kevin Madden and the WSJD staff joining the Redbird family," said Director of Athletics Dr. Sheahon Zenger. "This is also great support for Luke by having Redbird games aired live in his hometown during his senior season. I know the people of Mt. Carmel are passionate about their football, and I think it is tremendous that they have continued to support Luke and the Redbirds. We are looking forward to working with WSJD and hope this is a partnership that will continue beyond this season."

Madden, the general manager of WSJD, is also looking forward to joining the network.

"We're thrilled to become a part of the Redbird Radio Network," Madden said. "Big things are expected of the Redbirds and Luke this year, and we look forward to being a part of the action all season long. This is something our listeners have been clamoring for the last two years, and we're appreciative of the help we received from the ISU Athletics Department in making this happen."

WSJD has a 6,000-watt signal and can be heard in Mount Vernon, Olney and Robinson, as well as in Evansville, Ind.
