NORMAL, Ill. -
Former Illinois State running back Sha-Ron Edwards, a 2003 All-Gateway First Team selection, will attempt to lead Frankfurt to its fifth NFL Europa title on Saturday when the Galaxy faces the Hamburg Sea Devils in the Yello Strom World Bowl XV at Frankfurt's Commerzbank Arena.
The game is scheduled to kickoff at noon central and will be televised live on the NFL Network.
Edwards started the season with the Berlin Thunder, but joined the Galaxy prior to Week 4. Despite joining Frankfort late in the season, Edwards leads the team in rushing with 237 yards on 72 carries. He also has a touchdown.
Edwards still owns the third best single-season rushing total in Illinois State history. He legged 1,409 yards on 247 carries with 14 touchdowns during the 2003 campaign. During the year, Edwards compiled a pair of 200-yard rushing games against Missouri State (239) and Western Kentucky (233), while being named all-conference.
The Galaxy won the World Bowl last season, but has never won back-to-back championships with victories in World Bowls III, VII, XI and XIV.
