Darting Named Director of Basketball Operations

June 28, 2007

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State head basketball coach Tim Jankovich added another member to his staff Thursday with the hiring of Kerry Darting, who will serve as the program's director of basketball operations. Darting brings three years of college coaching experience to ISU.

"Coming to Illinois State is a tremendous opportunity for my coaching career," said Darting. "I have a chance to learn the coaching profession from a great head coach and staff, and I am excited about the chance to be at the Division I level. I'm thrilled to be at Illinois State and in the Bloomington-Normal community."

With the Redbirds, Darting will be the liaison between the basketball program and the Karin Bone Athletics Study Center, while also overseeing community service and tape exchange.

Jankovich was equally as pleased with the addition of Darting to his staff.

"We are excited to have Kerry joining our staff," said Jankovich. "I have known Kerry and his family for the better part of my life and have watched him grow up both as a player and a young man. He has great character, is a very hard worker and will be an outstanding basketball coach when given the opportunity."

Prior to his arrival, Darting had been a part of the Missouri-Rolla men's basketball program for the past six seasons. He spent the last two years as an assistant coach after serving as a student assistant coach in the 2004-05 campaign. Prior to that, Darting was a three-year letterman and one of the top three-point shooters for the Miners.
