NORMAL, Ill. -
Bloomington-Normal community members will have the opportunity to enjoy carnival games and live music at the third annual Redbird Fan Fair, which returns to Illinois State's campus on Sat., Aug. 18.
The fair will be held at "The Plaza," located in between Redbird Arena and Horton Field House from 5-7 p.m. The event, which is free to the public, is held in conjunction with the official kick-off of the 2007 fall athletic season as both the Redbird volleyball and football teams will be holding Red/White scrimmages. The volleyball scrimmage will precede the Fan Fair at 3 p.m. from Redbird Arena, and the football scrimmage will follow the festivities at 7 p.m. at Hancock Stadium.
"Last year, Redbird Fan Fair was a huge success with thousands of students and Redbird fans attending the day's festivities," said Illinois State assistant athletics director for marketing and promotions Brad Ledford. "This year, we are looking to continue to grow this event and kick-off the athletic season with a bang. Fans will be able to interact with Redbird student-athletes, enjoy several games and listen to live music. With the Redbird volleyball and football scrimmages taking place before and after the event, this is definitely a day for Redbird fans to enjoy."
Student-athletes and coaches from Illinois State's 19 varsity sports teams will be on hand at the event, assisting in the various fair games. They will interact with the fans, and will be signing autographs on a limited basis. Food, games and live music will also be available.
Reggie's Kids Club membership items will be distributed at the event, marking the official kick-off of the newly formed organization.
