NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State's 2007-08 men's basketball schedule was officially completed Friday, after the Missouri Valley Conference announced the dates for the league's match ups. The Redbirds' slate includes 15 home games and at least one nationally televised contest. ISU's league opener at Creighton Dec. 29, will be the first MVC Television Network telecast of the season, and will be carried live by FSN Midwest, Fox College Sports and Comcast SportsNet.

In addition to the conference schedule, the league office also announced that all 10 Valley members will participate in the ESPN BracketBusters series during the 2007-08 campaign. Five of the Valley teams, including Illinois State, will host home games on Sunday, Feb. 24.

The `Birds will begin conference play with two-consecutive road games, at Creighton Dec. 29, and at Wichita State Jan. 1. Four-consecutive home contests follow, highlighted by a Jan. 5 meeting with in-state rival Southern Illinois at Redbird Arena.

Illinois State finishes off the month of January with three-of-four games on the road. On Jan. 23, the Redbirds will travel to Peoria, Ill., for the first of two games against rival Bradley. In between road dates with Drake (Jan. 19) and Northern Iowa (Jan. 30) ISU will host Indiana State (Jan. 27) to round out the month of January.

Four of Illinois State's seven conference games in the month of February will be at home, as the Redbirds will host Drake (Feb. 5), Bradley (Feb. 9), Missouri State (Feb. 13) and Creighton (Feb. 27). Road contests at Missouri State (Feb. 2), Indiana State (Feb. 16) and Evansville (Feb. 20) complete the last full month of the Valley schedule.

ISU will conclude regular season play at Southern Illinois March 1, before heading to St. Louis for the State Farm MVC Tournament at Scottrade Center, March 6-9.

Illinois State head coach Tim Jankovich also announced the Redbirds' originally scheduled Dec. 16 game against Illinois-Springfield will be moved to next season. ISU's 30 scheduled games are one more than the NCAA limit of 29.

"Coach (Kevin) Gamble is a friend of mine, and he thought, and I agreed, that he would rather play this game (against Illinois-Springfield) next year," Jankovich said. "We will be glad to have them on our schedule next year in some capacity."
