HAMILTON, Ontario -
Former Illinois State quarterback Kevin Glenn led Winnipeg to another Canadian Football League win Saturday night with a 34-4 victory over Hamilton at Ivor Wynne Stadium, but the Redbird great left the game in the third quarter with a knee injury.
Following a single by Hamilton to open the scoring, Glenn put the Blue Bombers in the lead for good with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Terrence Edwards, which ended a five-play, 75-yard scoring drive. Winnipeg took a 21-1 lead in the second quarter, before the Tiger-Cats responded with a field goal to make the score 21-4. Winnipeg added a field goal of its own to take a 24-4 win at the half.
In the third quarter, Glenn completed a 35-yard pass to Charles Roberts, but the former Redbird quarterback was injured on the play. Four plays later, Winnipeg scored another touchdown to take a commanding 31-4 lead. Glenn is listed as day-to-day and the organization is awaiting medical results on its CFL Outstanding Player candidate.
Glenn completed 19-of-32 pass attempts and threw for 240 yards and a touchdown.
Glenn and the Blue Bombers return to action Sept. 23, when Winnipeg travels to Toronto for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
