NORMAL, Ill. -
Week two action in the NFL was highlighted by a match-up pitting former Illinois State teammates against each other as Atlanta traveled to Jacksonville Sunday.
The Redbird reunion never materialized on the field, as Falcons' wide receiver Laurént Robinson was inactive with a hamstring injury. The Jaguars' defensive end Brent Hawkins represented ISU well by recording a pair of sacks in Jacksonville's 13-7 win.
Hawkins' pair of quarterback sacks resulted in a loss of 11 yards, while the 2005 Gateway Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year also added a couple quarterback hurries.
Following Jacksonville's go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, Hawkins sacked Atlanta's Joey Harrington for an 8-yard loss on third-and-14. Jacksonville added a field goal at 3:41 in the fourth quarter to push the lead to 13-7, and on the ensuing drive with the Falcons facing a third-and-13 situation, Hawkins sacked Harrington again for a 3-yard loss.
For the second-straight week, Kansas City's Boomer Grigsby was on the inactive list and the Chiefs went on to lose in Chicago, 20-10. Detroit's Aveion Cason saw action for the Lions, but did not record a stat in their 20-17 victory over Minnesota.
