Late TD Spoils Glenn's Return to Saskatchewan

Sept. 2, 2007

REGINA, Canada - Former Illinois State quarterback Kevin Glenn passed for nearly 400 yards and three touchdowns, but a quarterback sneak by Kerry Joseph with six seconds remaining gave Saskatchewan a 31-26 victory, Sunday in Canadian Football League action at Mosiac Stadium.

The loss dropped the Blue Bombers overall record to 5-3-1 on the season, but they did maintain a one-game lead in the East Division. Glenn completed 26-of-35 pass attempts, while throwing for 391 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.

Trailing 7-1 in the first quarter, Glenn put the Blue Bombers ahead with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Terrence Edwards to cap a seven-play, 80-yard scoring drive. The Roughriders regained the lead 10-8, but again Glenn put Winnipeg on top after completing a 25-yard touchdown pass to Derick Armstrong. The drive was 109 yards in length and took only 10 plays.

After leading 18-10 at halftime, Winnipeg found itself trailing again as the Bombers were behind 21-18, in the third quarter. Glenn and Armstrong connected for another touchdown, this time on a 20-yard pass play, to give Winnipeg a 25-21 advantage. Following a Saskatchewan field goal and a single by the Blue Bombers, Winnipeg maintained a 26-24 lead with 1:34 remaining. However, the Roughriders covered 91 yards in seven plays, highlighted by the game-winning 27-yard touchdown run by Joseph.

In just seven days, Winnipeg will host Saskatchewan in a rematch between the two teams. Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m.
