Redbirds in the Pros: Glenn, Hawkins, Robinson All See Action

Sept. 23, 2007

NORMAL, Ill. - Three former Illinois State football players suited up for their respective professional teams Sunday, Kevin Glenn for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League, joined Brent Hawkins (Jacksonville) and Laurént Robinson (Atlanta) of the NFL.

Glenn was the statistical leader among the former Redbird greats, but Winnipeg was defeated 31-23 by Toronto. Glenn passed for 453 yards and two touchdowns on 30-for-54 passing, but threw two interceptions, including one which was returned 84 yards for a touchdown by the Alouettes. Despite the loss, Winnipeg still remains in first place of the CFL's East Division with a 7-4-1 record.

In Atlanta, first-year receiver Robinson saw action as a reserve. He was thrown to twice on the day, but Robinson did not record a catch in the Falcons' 27-20 loss to Carolina.

Hawkins, the 2005 Gateway Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year, also played a reserve role for Jacksonville without recording a stat. The Jaguars upset Denver in Mile High Stadium with a 23-14 road victory.

Aveion Cason was not active for Detroit's 56-21 loss at Philadelphia, while Boomer Grigsby was on the inactive list in Kansas City's home opener, a 13-10 win over Minnesota.
