The Illinois State men's golf team is headed up-state to compete in the John Dallio Memorial hosted by DePaul at the Ruffled Feathers Golf Club.
The 13-team field consists of six other teams from Illinois including Bradley, DePaul, Eastern Illinois, Loyola-Chicago and Western Illinois. Bradley, Drake and Northern Iowa make up the contingent of Missouri Valley Conference rivals.
Illinois State will bring seven players, including five players competing in the team event and two players competing individually. The Redbirds will be led by junior Ben Murphy's 75.0 scoring average. Also on the tournament roster are red shirt sophomores Joe Emerich and Kyle Bragg. A pair of true freshmen, Will Cullen and Jeff Kellen, who is making his collegiate debut, round out the tournament roster. Competing Individually for the Redbirds are sophomores Tommy Bliefnick and Drew Miller.
"Our guys are extremely anxious to compete," said head coach Ray Kralis. "With the way we played at Kansas and after some time off, our guys are excited to play. With so many teams both from Illinois and our conference, this is a great opportunity for us to find out where we stand and maybe get some bragging rights early in the season."
Ruffled Feathers Golf Club is a par 72, 6,898-yard course located in Lemont, Ill. The Dallio Memorial is a 54-hole event with the first 36-holes being played on Monday, Oct. 1 beginning at with a shotgun start 8:30 a.m. The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes being played Monday, Sept. 2.
