Sept. 5, 2007

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State gymnasts Cheryl Berezan, Abby Chovanec, Tove Fjordholm, Meaghan Koshman and London Walder were all named to the 2006-07 Academic All-American team, as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC).

Each of the five gymnasts had a grade-point-average of 3.5 or above, and maintained their GPA's for both the Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 semesters. Berezan and Fjordholm had a perfect 4.0 GPA for both semesters, while Chovanec had a 4.0 in the spring semester.

Head Coach Bob Conkling was proud of his gymnasts' accomplishments.

"The coaching staff is very proud to have over one third of the team become Academic All-Americans," said Conkling. "They are true student-athletes and they have set the standard for the rest of the team to follow. I'm especially proud of Fjordholm and Berezan for receiving 4.0 both semesters and Chovanec for receiving a 4.0 in the spring semester."
