Illinois State head baseball coach Jim Brownlee and his staff have announced the dates for the upcoming fall and winter hitting and pitching instructional clinics. Downloadable forms for each of the camps can be found by clicking on the links on the baseball front page of the Illinois State Athletics web site at GoRedbirds.com.
Each hitting clinic will consist of four or six one-hour sessions, beginning with instruction from the Redbird baseball coaching staff and ending with hitting games for participants. Each participant will receive a baseball clinic t-shirt and be provided with statistics and evaluations of their performance throughout the hitting games to chart their progress from session to session.
The hitting clinics are open to elementary, junior high and high school participants, with each group having their own time slot of each camp session. Session 1 begins Oct. 14 and will meet each Sunday through Nov. 19. Session 2 will take place in 2008, and begins Jan. 13, and will be held the next three Sundays until its conclusion Feb. 10. All sessions will take place at Horton Field House.
The registration deadline for the first hitting clinic is Oct. 12, while the deadline for session 2 is set for Jan. 11.
The winter pitching clinic is a one-day session, held Jan. 27, that gives high school age pitchers an opportunity to learn pitching philosophies from Brownlee, a successful college baseball coach for 29 years. The clinic will include instruction from Brownlee and his staff, and participants will receive a written evaluation at the completion of the session.
The clinic runs from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Horton Field House and registration fees are $75. The registration deadline for the pitching clinic is Jan. 24, but registration is limited to 60 participants and spots will fill up quickly.
