Drake Broadcast to Air on Comcast, Mediacom

Jan. 18, 2008

NORMAL, Ill - Like a classic basketball contest, it came down to the wire, but Illinois State Athletics, Comcast and Mediacom are pleased to announce that Saturday's Illinois State-Drake men's basketball game, from the Knapp Center, in Des Moines, Iowa, will air live in central Illinois.

The broadcast will be the Drake television broadcast produced by Mediacom. The game will be available on channel 74 in the Bloomington-Normal area, and on channel 44 in Peoria. These channels are available to all Comcast customers in those areas as part of the "Classic" level of service. In addition, Mediacom in central Illinois will also televise the games on channel 78.

"There has been such a public outcry from our donors, students and fans, wanting to be able to see this game," Illinois State Director of Athletics Sheahon Zenger said. "Fortunately, with some last-minute effort and hard work from the people at Comcast and Mediacom, we were able to make this happen."

In addition to the television coverage, WJBC-AM 1230, Bloomington, the flagship radio station of the Redbird Radio Network, will also carry the game live, as Dick Luedke and Mike Matthews describe the action.

The game pits a pair of 6-0 Missouri Valley Conference teams, a feat that has never previously occurred in the league's 101-year history, and sole possession of first place is there for the victor. Illinois State enters the game with a 14-3 overall mark, including a 6-0 record in the Valley, while Drake (15-1, 6-0) has won 14-straight games.
