NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State senior forward Anthony Slack, who injured his right shoulder with just over six minutes remaining in the first half of Wednesday's 76-75 loss at Bradley, is listed as day-to-day with a shoulder contusion after X-rays showed no structural damage.
Shoulder contusions, or bruises, develop when small blood vessels under the skin tear or rupture, most often from a direct blow. According to ISU head athletic trainer John Munn, Slack's immediate availability will be determined based on when he has full range of motion back in his shoulder.
"We will continue to monitor Anthony's shoulder on a day-to-day basis, and he will receive ongoing treatment," said Munn. "How quickly he returns will be based on when his full range of motion comes back and how quickly the pain subsides. He is still fairly sore today, and may continue to be so until his shoulder heals."
Slack suffered the injury with 6:14 remaining in the opening stanza, when his right shoulder collided with the north basket stanchion at Carver Arena. He was escorted to the locker room, and did not return to the game. Slack's arm was in a sling for the remainder of the contest.
Wednesday's game was the 50th of Slack's career. He is the Valley's current leader in field goal percentage (.700) and ranks second in the conference in blocked shots (32). He has started all 19 games this season.
