NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State's winter pitching clinic will be held Jan. 11, 2009, a week earlier than previously announced by the Redbird baseball office. The schedule adjustment comes as the result of a change in the availability of Horton Field House, the site of the clinic.
The camp helps attendees learn what it takes to be successful at the high school and collegiate levels and will focus on correct pitching mechanics. Additionally, the clinic will include a session on proper strength training for pitchers.
Last week, the Redbird baseball coaching staff announced a partnership with College Baseball Camps to offer registration via the Web in addition to brochures and mail-in forms offered at GoRedbirds.com. Potential camp participants can access the registration site via GoRedbirds.com or log onto CollegeBaseballCamps.com and search for Illinois State. Online registrants will be charged a small processing fee.
In addition to the pitching camp, Illinois State will offer two hitting clinics during the fall and winter months.

The first fall hitting clinic, held in Horton Field House at Illinois State, begins Oct. 12 and runs each Sunday for six weeks. Each participant, grades K-12, will learn the fundamentals of hitting, while focusing on improving mechanics and their offensive approach. Each weekly session will begin with instruction and drill work. The second half of each session is reserved for hitting games. Statistics will be recorded each week so that participants can see their progress from week to week.
The winter session hitting clinic begins Jan. 25, 2009, and spans four weeks. The cost for the first clinic is $130, or participants can receive a discounted rate by registering for both clinics at $200. The price for the second session alone is $90.
