Halloween Celebration Set for Redbird Volleyball on Oct. 31

Oct. 24, 2008

For the first time since the 1981 season, the Illinois State volleyball team will be playing a home match on Halloween night, when the Redbirds take on Missouri Valley Conference foe Missouri State at Redbird Arena Oct. 31 beginning at 7:05 p.m. The Illinois State Athletics Department will help Redbird fans "trick or treat" by holding a costume contest, and providing the first 1,500 people in attendance with a complimentary candy bag.

Fans in attendance will also be able to pick up a free ticket voucher for the Nov. 1 match against No. 12 Wichita State. The match is being dubbed "Pack the Arena" Night. Vouchers will be located at the promotion tables adjacent to the North Entrance of Redbird Arena. The costume contest will be held before the match in the Fun Zone, located at the South Entrance.

"Halloween is always a great celebration, and we are looking forward to having our first-ever home volleyball match at Redbird Arena on Halloween night this season," said Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions Brad Ledford. "Along with some great promotions, free tickets for the following night's match against Wichita State (Nov. 1) will also be available for our annual `Pack the Arena' event. It should be a great weekend of volleyball at Redbird Arena."

Illinois State will wrap up its four-match road swing this week, when the Redbirds visit Bradley Thursday, and take on host Northern Iowa Saturday. Thursday's match against the Braves will be played at Illinois Central College beginning at 7 p.m.

The Redbirds currently rank No. 21 in the NCAA Division I ranks in attendance, averaging 1,416 fans per match.
