Oct. 3, 2008

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Illinois State women's golf team will travel to Iowa City, Iowa, to compete in the 15-team Hawkeye Invitational, which is being hosted by Iowa. The tournament will be a two-day event with 36-holes being played on Saturday and a final round of 18-holes on Sunday to conclude the tournament. The tournament will be held at the Finkbine Golf Course, which is a par-72, 6,202 yard track.

"After a couple of weeks of strong practices, we are ready to see what improvements and adjustments we have made for the remainder of the fall season," said head coach Darby Sligh. "Although we didn't finish what we started last week, I'm looking for us to bounce back strong this week."

The Redbirds competing in the Hawkeye Invitational will be senior Marci Hill, and juniors Laura Harris, Britt Knutson, Christine Larson and Stacey Miller. Freshman Jackie Leonard will be competing individually.

The teams competing in the tournament will be Ball State, Central Arkansas, Iowa, Longwood, North Dakota, Oakland, Penn State, Sacramento State, South Dakota State and Wisconsin. The Redbirds will also face off against fellow Missouri Valley Conference teams Bradley, Creighton, Drake and Northern Iowa.

Saturday's 36-holes are set to begin with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start.
